The University Doctoral and Habilitation Council (UDHC)

The University Doctoral and Habilitation Council (UDHC) consists of 15 members. Its Chair is the Vice-Rector for Science of the University of Debrecen, Prof. Dr. László Csernoch, and its Secretary is the Director of Science of the University of Debrecen, Dr. Zsolt Varga.

The Social Sciences Doctoral Council is represented in the UDHC by its Chair, Prof. Dr. Béla Szabó.

The Chair of the Social Sciences Habilitation Committee, Prof. Dr. Károly Pető, is also a full member of the UDHC.

 

Main Responsibilities of the University Doctoral and Habilitation Council (UDHC)

  • Decides on the appointment and dismissal of the chairs and members of the disciplinary doctoral councils;
  • Decides on the allocation of scholarship-funded positions among the disciplinary doctoral councils;
  • Decides, based on the proposals of the disciplinary doctoral councils, on the award of doctoral degrees and the recognition (nostrification) of foreign scientific degrees;
  • Decides on co-supervision (joint supervision) requests;
  • Decides on the withdrawal of doctoral degrees;
  • Approves the faculty habilitation committees’ decisions on the conferral of the habilitated doctor title.
